Who Urban Locksmith is
Urban Locksmith is a mobile locksmith operation working Ottawa and every community within about an hour. There is no shop to visit. Instead the van comes to you, which is how a locksmith should work when the problem is a door you cannot open. Consequently we cover residential, commercial and automotive work from one number, twelve hours a day and twelve more after that.
Twelve years on Ottawa roads
Urban Locksmith has worked this city since 2014. Consequently we know which neighbourhoods have which housing stock, and what that means for the hardware on the door. Moreover we know the drive times honestly rather than optimistically.
Mobile, not a call centre
Search locksmith Ottawa and much of what returns is a national dispatch operation. They quote low, sell the job on, and someone else arrives with a different number. By contrast, the person who answers here is the person who turns up.
How we price
You get a figure on the phone before anyone leaves. Consequently that figure does not change when the van arrives. Furthermore there is no after-hours surcharge, no weekend rate and no holiday premium. Travel is included across all 47 areas we cover. If the job turns out to be different from what you described, we stop and agree the change with you rather than continuing and invoicing more.
Insured and bonded
Urban Locksmith is insured and bonded, with proof shown on request before any work starts. Worth knowing: Ontario does not license locksmiths provincially. Licences exist in Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec, but not here. Consequently anyone advertising an Ontario locksmith licence is describing something that does not exist. Therefore ask for insurance and a business number instead, from us and from anyone else you call.
How we work
Identification is checked on every job without exception. Photo ID matching the address for a home, registration for a vehicle, a lease or business licence for commercial premises. Furthermore, entry is non-destructive wherever the lock allows. Drilling is a last resort, and you hear about it with the replacement cost before anything is cut.
